Improving Your Car

When my car died for the fifth time this year, I knew that I needed to do something to improve things. I decided to start looking around for little upgrades that I could do on my own, and I ended up completely replacing the oil and changing out the air filter. The difference was astounding. My car seemed to have more power, and so I decided to keep going with my little tune-ups. This blog is all about improving your car one thing at a time and knowing what to do if you encounter car problems when you are on the road.

When to Have a Boat Professionally Cleaned

When you own a boat you want to do all the things that it takes to keep it in the best condition possible. This means knowing when you should be having it cleaned thoroughly by a boat cleaning service. The reason for going with a professional for an in-depth cleaning once in a while is to take advantage of their expertise which will also include the use of the best equipment and solutions. You might wonder if you should have your boat professionally cleaned at the end of boating season or at the beginning of the next boating season. The answer is that it should be done at both the beginning and at the end. Here is more on this.

Cleaning at the Beginning of Boating Seasoning

You are going to want to have the boat professionally cleaned at the start of the season before you take the boat out for the first time. You need to be sure that all of the dust and dirt that got both on and in the boat during storage is removed. Also, the boat will receive a good wax job when it is professionally cleaned and that wax is going to help protect it when you have it out on the water.

You are also going to want to make sure that the interior is professionally cleaned so you have fresh seats to sit in. This will help to flush out any pests that have been living in the boat before you find yourself being bitten while you are out on the water.

Cleaning at the End of Boating Season

If you have been taking the boat into saltwater then it is important to note that saltwater is corrosive. When you leave it on the boat for the rest of the year, it can be very damaging to the boat's exterior. In fact, saltwater can corrode the metal parts of your boat five to ten times faster than freshwater will. For this reason, you should make sure your boat is completely rinsed off after removing it from the saltwater and professionally cleaned before you store the boat.

The removal of saltwater isn't the only reason to have the boat cleaned before storing it though. You also want to remove all the dirt and debris so it doesn't end up leading to permanent damage. Moisture will be absorbed into many areas of the boat including the floor, the cushions, and anywhere else it can. This can lead to rot and the growth of mildew and mold.
