Improving Your Car

When my car died for the fifth time this year, I knew that I needed to do something to improve things. I decided to start looking around for little upgrades that I could do on my own, and I ended up completely replacing the oil and changing out the air filter. The difference was astounding. My car seemed to have more power, and so I decided to keep going with my little tune-ups. This blog is all about improving your car one thing at a time and knowing what to do if you encounter car problems when you are on the road.

4 Ways To Keep Your Heavy Truck In Good Shape

If you own a heavy pick-up truck, there are numerous steps you can take to ensure your truck stays in good shape and doesn't need to undergo avoidable major repairs.

#1 Keep Up with Oil Changes

Keeping up with oil changes is one of the best ways to take care of any vehicle. Regular oil changes will help ensure only clean oil is running through your engine. Regular oil changes will also ensure enough oil is running through your engine. Debris can build-up in your oil over time, and can cause damage to your engine, which is why you should always drain and fill your engine oil on schedule. It is a simple way to take good care of your truck.

#2 Keep the Fuel Vents Cleaned

Your truck has fuel vents. The fuel vents help filter out and remove particles and keep them from getting into your fuel tank. Make sure that you check the fuel vent every once in a while, and block things up. Debris can work their way into the fuel filter and can damage your truck. Checking and cleaning your fuel vent will help keep your truck running smoothly.

#3 Keep the Brakes Running Smooth

Next, keep the brakes in good condition. Check the brakes at least once a month and make sure that the brake pads are still thick enough to allow you to properly stop. Brakes are extremely important with heavy duty trucks; they need strong brakes in order to stop. Most heavy trucks carry heavy loads. If you ever hear any odd sounds when you brake, or if you feel vibrations when you brake, you need to make sure you have the trucks inspected right away. Well-working brakes are essential to the safety of your vehicle.

#4 Control the Temperature of Your Radiator

Finally, you want to control the temperature of your radiator. Keep an eye on the fluid in your radiator. Regularly checking the fluid levels in your radiator will help you quickly detect a leak and will allow you to know when your radiator needs to be topped off before it creates a performance issue.

With a heavy truck, you can prevent unnecessary repairs by engaging in regular care and maintenance of your truck. Keep up with oil changes, clean the fuel vents, make sure your brakes are running smoothly, and be sure to control the overall temperature of your radiator.
